Redesigning Happy Meal with balanced nutrition for kids
plus activities creating Feel Good Moment for every families

McDonald's Thailand is gearing towards the company's Commitment-to-Families with promise to better its Happy Meal menus with balanced nutrition and to create Feel Good Moment activities among family members so they can truly spend their time and share the happiness together.

As the leading global quick service restaurant brand, McDonald's aims to deliver the high quality meal to family customers through Happy Meal with delicious Chicken McNuggets and burgers. Throughout the years, we have created new menus offering balanced choices that kids and parents love. Having continued to deliver our Commitment-to- Families for these customers, McDonald's Thailand has added Apple Slices menu since 2013 and recently added Pancake menus into Happy Meal in early 2019.

Our Global Happy Meal Goals through 2022 will offer balanced meals to ensure that the Happy Meal bundle offerings meeting McDonald's Global Happy Meal Criteria of less than or equal to 600 calories, 10% of calories from saturated fat and added sugars and 650 mg of sodium. We will use simpler ingredients, remove artificial flavors, colors and preservatives and be transparent with Happy Meal nutrition information. We will also market responsibly complying to local and regional advertising pledges with respect to marketing to children while we will leverage innovative marketing to help increase purchase of foods and beverages that contain recommended food groups i.e. fruit, vegetables and grains in Happy Meal.

McDonald's continues to lift up customers' experiences by creating Feel Good Moment for Family when they visit the restaurant. We are hosting ‘Storytelling' program that our staff will read and play mindful games with young customers. ‘McDonald's Party & DIY Workshop' will also welcome children to enjoy creating their own hamburgers at our modern facility. Young customers can also learn how our staff is working in the restaurant and to Meet & Greet with the Ronald who will rotate to visit each branch with fun games. The activities will not only create happiness among children but also strengthen bonding within the families.

"We want to help creating Feel Good Moment and bonding within the family. According to the survey, we found that Thai people only spend time with family members at three hours per day. We therefore design these activities for family to spend more of their time truly together both at home and at our restaurants. This will continue to make McDonald's as the top of mind among customers." said Mr. Thunyachate Ekvetchavit, Managing Director of McThai Co., Ltd.

In addition, we have created ‘Happy Meal Readers' program providing storytelling books as an option for customers to choose either books or toys when purchase Happy Meal at McDonald's in 82 countries. The program helps reading together more fun for kids and inspire meaningful family moments through the Treetop Twins Adventures, an exclusive book collection of 12 standalone stories by Cressida Cowell, world-renowned author which has been translated to more than 40 languages including Thai language. The collection is available with Happy Meals since March 2019 at all 50 McDonald's restaurants in Thailand.

‘Storytelling' program will be organized on every Sunday in three sessions: noon time, 2 pm. and 6 pm. at all participating restaurants. Customers can also apply for McDonald's Party & DIY Workshop through McDonald's app or call 02 696 4900.
